General Information

Housed at Penn State University's Social Science Research Institute and supported by the Lilly Endowment, the John Templeton Foundation, Penn State University, and Chapman University, the Association of Religion Data Archives (ARDA) strives to democratize access to the best data on religion.  The online features are designed for educators, journalists, religious and community organizations and researchers.  The ARDA was awarded the MARS Best of Free Reference Web Sites in 2010 (MARS is a section of the Reference and User Services Association in the American Library Association).

Terms of Use

The MARC files can be downloaded and used free of charge.  The files cannot be sold.

Although the data included in the ARDA are submitted by the foremost religion scholars and research centers in the world, and are carefully prepared for dissemination online, the Association of Religion Data Archives, and all parties associated with the Association of Religion Data Archives (including the principal investigators), offer the data and documentation "as is" with no warranty and assume no legal liability or responsibility for the completeness, accuracy, or usefulness of the data, or fitness for a particular purpose.
