The FACT (Faith Communities Today) 2010 survey of U.S. Assemblies of God (AG) churches was conducted in November 2010. Each sampled congregation was mailed a printed questionnaire under the name of the AG General Secretary Dr. James T. Bradford, by the Hartford Institute for Religion Research (HIRR).Congregations were also given the option to complete a web version of the questionnaire. The address of the web survey was included in the mailed questionnaire.
Sampling Procedures
The total population of U.S. Assemblies of God congregations, from which the sample was drawn, numbered nearly 12,500. Starting with all official churches, congregations with invalid mailing addresses were excluded. New churches (i.e., opened in 2010) also were omitted. The remainder were stratified by Sunday morning worship attendance and geographic location.Systematic sampling was used to select 1,300 churches. Usable surveys totaled 306, for a response rate of 24 percent.
