Summary

The Faith Communities Today 2010 National survey brings together 26 individual surveys of congregations. Twenty-four surveys were conducted by or for partner denominations and faith groups, representing 32 of the country's largest denominations and traditions. The common core questionnaire of the survey replicates more than 150 questions from the 2000, 2005 and 2008 surveys, plus a special section on the 2008 recession. This dataset contains the FACT 2010 data from Jewish congregations in North America.

The ARDA has added two additional variables to the original data set to enhance the users' experience on our site.

Collection Procedures

Questionnaires were mailed to more than 1,200 randomly drawn Reform and Conservative Synagogues in the North American Division (United States and Canada). The original survey was mailed in May. Reminders of some type were sent in June, July, August, September, October, and November. These included letters, a re-mailing of the survey, e-mails, and the opportunity to complete the survey online. Congregational leaders, including rabbis, cantors, educators, presidents and synagogue executives, completed the surveys.
