Summary

The Nebraska Annual Social Indicators Survey (NASIS) aims to survey quality of life in the state of Nebraska, covering topics such as the environment, housing, health, recreation, occupation, education, family life, among others. A set of core questions are repeated each year, and additional questions are purchased by those interested in gathering additional data. The 2010 NASIS asks questions about current issues, nursing homes and assisted living facilities, personal finances, survey participation, as well as general demographic and household information.

The ARDA has added six additional variables to the original data set to enhance the users' experience on our site.

Collection Procedures

The NASIS for 2010 was conducted using a mail survey. Nebraska households with a listed landline phone number and matched address were sampled. The adult (age 19 or older) in the household who most recently celebrated a birthday was encouraged to respond to the survey. Prior to 2009, the NASIS was administered as a telephone interview.

Sampling Procedures

"The sample for the 2009-2010 NASIS was purchased from Survey Sampling International, LLC (SSI). A total 5,494 cases (5500 less 6 telephone numbers that were identified as ported, that is, changed from landline to wireless) were provided to BOSR by SSI on June 10, 2010. Instructions for within-household respondent selection by last birthday method (i.e., adult 19 or older who most recently celebrated a birthday) were printed at the top of the survey and in the first paragraph of the cover letter (Appendix A)."
