Anglican Province of Christ the King (1978 - Present) - Religious Group
Religious Family: Anglican/EpiscopalReligious Tradition: Mainline Protestant
Description: The Anglican Province of Christ the King dates back to the conservative movement that produced the 1977 congress in St. Louis, Missouri. The Province was formed as a provisional diocese during that time, along with three other dioceses. Its bishop-elect, Robert S. Morse, was consecrated in 1978. In that same year, the Province opposed a new constitution by the group that would become the Anglican Catholic Church. After years of administrative pressures and internal issues, the Diocese of Christ the King reorganized as the Anglican Province of Christ the King in 1991.
