It was initiated by the consecration of Revs. Charles H. Murphy and John H. Rodgers as missionary bishops to the United States, who represented Rwanda and Southeast Asia, respectively. The mission sees itself as an Anglican missionary effort in the United States and not a new church. They are open to a wide range of beliefs and practices within Anglicanism.
