Baptist Missionary Convention (Triennial Convention) (1814 - 1907) - Religious Group
Religious Family: BaptistReligious Tradition: Unclassified
Description: The Baptist Missionary Convention, formed in 1814, was known officially as the General Missionary Convention of the Baptist Denomination in America. However, because the group met every three years, it was more commonly known as the Triennial Convention. This group was the first formal Baptist missions organization in America, but was not universally supported by Baptists; in fact, it would be the forum in which many issues would be argued, and eventually produced multiple schisms.
