Description: The Cross and the Lotus dates back to 1925, when Reverend Mother Yogacharya Hamilton met her guru, Paramahansa Yogananda. She was ordained by him in 1950 and given the title of "yogacharya" (master, or teacher of yoga) in 1951 - one of six people given this title by Yogananda - and the only woman. After traveling to India where Hamilton obtained the complete realization of God, she returned to her hometown of Seattle, Washington, where David R. Hickenbottom became her student. She ordained him in 1984 and later gave him the title of yogacharya. He has continued her work since her death in 1991.
