Description: The International Buddhist Progress Society (Foguangshan) was originally founded in Taiwan in 1967 by Ven. Hsing Yun. After coming to America in the 1980s, the Xilai Temple was built to serve as a spiritual and cultural center for individuals who wanted to learn more about Buddhism. The group follows the teachings of Ven. Hsing Yun, which emphasize monastic leadership and the presence of bodhisattvas in the Buddhist community.
