Free Church of Scotland (Continuing) (1843 - Present) - Religious Group
Religious Family: Presbyterian/ReformedReligious Tradition: Evangelical Protestant
Description: The Free Church of Scotland (Continuing) was formed from the Disruption of 1843 when several Scottish congregations split from the state church, gaining the power to appoint their own pastors. After internal conflict, the association was reconstituted in 2000 from the Free Church of Scotland to The Free Church of Scotland (Continuing). This smaller, remaining constituency claims to hold true to the original intentions of the 1843 church.
