Religious Family: Presbyterian/ReformedReligious Tradition: Evangelical Protestant
Description: The Free Presbyterian Church of North America began in 1951 in Ulster, Northern Ireland, but first arrived in North America in 1976 (in Toronto, Canada). The group originally formed as a response to perceived modernist threats against the traditional Reformation stance of the church. In May of 2004, the churches in the United States and Canada formally presented a petition to the Irish presbytery to form the North American churches into their own presbytery.
