Description: North American Kagyu Karma Centres follow the teaching and leadership of Ogyen Trinley Dorje, the 17th incarnation of the Karmapa, who embodies the works of the buddhas. Ogyen Trinley Dorje was born as Apo Gaga in Tibet, but escaped to India in 2000. Currently, the Karmapa has a large international following, including across North America and the United States; in 1980, the 16th Karmapa made the decision to build the first Karma Kagyu monastery in Woodstock, New York.
