Description: The Kuan Yin Temple is the oldest Chinese temple in America and was started by Leong Dick Ying, a monk who brought two gold-leaf statues to Hawaii in 1878. The temple found its permanent home in 1921 in Honolulu. The temple holds various festivals each year, including celebrations of the Chinese New Year and other festivals honoring the Buddha, Bodhisattvas, and deities.
