Description: Yeshe Nyingpo was founded in 1976 by His Holiness Dudjom Rinpoche, who was believed to be a reincarnation of one of Buddha's personal disciples. He was also believed to be a reincarnation of Cheuchung Lotsawa, a disciple of Padmasambhava who brought Buddhism to Tibet. This broader group has multiple locations in the U.S. In 1980, Dudjom Rinpoche established Orgyen Cho Dzong, a spiritual retreat center in New York, under the guidance of his son, Shenphen Dawa Rinpoche. In 1983, the Southern California Region Yeshe Nyingpo was formed (originally known as Yeshe Nyingpo Los Angeles) and was led by the Venerable Gyatrul Rinpoche. It took its present name in 1993.
