National Association of Free Will Baptists - Timeline Event

Time Period

11-05-1935

Description

The "Palmer" (southern) and "Randall" (northern) lines of Free Will Baptists had remained separate since the 18th century. The Randall line was the larger of the two, but in 1911 more than half of its churches joined the more theologically progressive Northern Baptist Convention. In 1935, the remaining churches merged with the Palmer line, adopted a conservative statement of faith, and established the new denominational headquarters in Nashville, Tennessee. Today, the denomination has some 185,000 members concentrated in Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Tennessee.
