LaHaye, Timothy "Tim" - Timeline Biography

Time Period

04-27-1926

Description

Tim LaHaye is a widely-read evangelical pastor and author. He earned degrees at Bob Jones University and Western Seminary and, in 1971, founded San Diego Christian College, a school with strong ties to the creationist movement. In the 1970s, Tim and Beverly LaHaye began teaching Family Life Seminars at churches around the country and authored one of the first evangelical sex manuals, The Act of Marriage, which has sold more than 2.5 million copies. Tim LaHaye also co-authored the New York Times best-selling Left Behind novels, which imagine life during the tribulation. The LaHayes are deeply involved in New Christian Right political activism, fighting secular humanism and feminism through the aegis of the Council for National Policy, an invitation-only group of several hundred social conservatives from a wide variety of religious traditions that plays an influential role in Republican politics.
